In this ZBrush Summit presentation, Mike Climer gives an overview of ZBrush and techniques used that worked on designing the weapons for Destiny 2.
Tips include:
- Using Layers to create filigree patterns
- Using masking + transpose tool to lattice deform, squish, expand, and clip areas.
- Decimate each subtool separate, then merge them, then put the merge at the top of the subtools to make files easier to find while browsing in Lightbox.
- If you can get a weapon below 1 million polies, you may be able to import that model directly into the game engine for testing with sizing, rigs, look, etc.
